So last night (Tuesday night), I was driving down Roosevelt and Taylor at about 10:30 p.m. I was trying to find an open grocery store but decided I should probably just go straight home. Cop cars were hanging out pretty much every three blocks as I drove from Western to Halsted. Some police cars drove westbound too.
Not much is open anyway around here after 10:30 p.m.
Then a headline in my EveryBlock news feed today said there was a shooting at the Roosevelt el at about 7:00 last night. Is that why the police were patrolling more than usual?
Just goes to show that you can’t get complacent about your safety in a big city, even in a hoity-toity ‘hood like the South Loop. Crime happens everywhere.
