A UIC student living in Pilsen was arrested and charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty on Tuesday. His crime? Throwing boiling water on his dog after it had urinated on the floor. Read more from the Tribune:

A man was so infuriated his dog had urinated on the floor he threw boiling water at the pup while cooking a meal, causing severe burns to the animal’s head and torso in the East Pilsen neighborhood, police said.

Kyle Voissem, 20, was boiling water to make macaroni and cheese for dinner at his home in the 1700 block of South Desplaines Street in mid-October when he saw his dog urinate on the floor, according to police.
