Is it possible to introduce social justice to young children? I think so, and so does the Liberation Collective.
I had the pleasure of attending the Teachers for Social Justice Curriculum Fair this weekend, which is held yearly in Pilsen. While roaming the halls, I found “The Radical Alphabet” at the early childhood table.
For those of you who don’t know, when I’m not blogging, I work in early childhood.
Anyway, the Radical Alphabet is a project of the Liberation Collective. For each letter of the alphabet, they have chosen a word or other positive concept related to social justice. The goal is to make a poster which would serve as a discussion starter for teachers, parents and everyone else who works with young children.
However, they are in need of artists to design images for some of the letters. Most of the letters are done now, but drop them a line to find out what letters still need your expertise.
So hit them up now if you are so inclined. I want to bring this to my job ASAP!
