Sad news from Pilsen this morning, from the Tribune:
A bicyclist was struck and killed in a hit-and-run collision with a car this morning in the city’s Pilsen neighborhood, police said. A suspect was in custody.
The crash happened about 12:50 a.m. in the 1100 block of West 18th Street, police said.
The victim, a 30-year-old man, was riding his bike when the car driving east on 18th Street struck him and fled the scene, said Officer Ron Gaines, a police spokesman.
The unidentified bicyclist was taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The car’s driver was found a short time later and taken into custody, Gaines said.
