Lincoln Park

The library. A new hot spot, say what?

The library. A new hot spot, say what?

I think the character, Mr. Big, from Sex and the City posed the question best: “Are you the last person in New York still taking out library books?”  While Carrie’s answer may have been shocking and possibly unrealistic for some, I on the other hand completely identify with the notion that libraries are not only cool, but they’re one of the most overlooked destinations for a grand ‘o time!

There are hundreds of public libraries spread throughout the Chicagoland area, but the  Lincoln Park branch ranks high on my list of places to chillax on a Saturday afternoon. While the traditional and cozy atmosphere is perfect for, well reading, (duh) it’s also a great place to volunteer, reminisce over old movies and historical events, write your next novel, score a date, or catch a quick nap in one of the dimly lit corners.  Yes, people, the library is definitely the place to be.

Think about it. Where else can you go that allows unlimited access to a variety of reading materials and warm smiling faces? What about complimentary security while you explore the internet and music section? I know some of you are laughing at me, but trust me when I say that I’ll get the last laugh when Alex Trebek calls for my brainy presence on Jeopardy. Myself, and Carrie Bradshaw, that is.
