  • Fave spot: Rocks Lincoln Park

Sometimes I’m sweet but most of the time I’m sarcastic. I come alive at night which furthers my belief I’m part vampire. I was born and raised in a suburb of Chicago, though the city is where my heart lies. You can find me jogging along the lake, laughing at a bar with friends, or cheering on my Marquette Golden Eagles. Nothing will ever curb my true desires: to travel anywhere and everywhere and to tell stories people want to hear.

I am probably the only personal trainer whose favorite food is cheese fries. Since starting my own blog (A Spoonful of Smash) a few months ago, I've learned to love sharing my fitness knowledge with the world. I am always talking about fitness, food, and my new golden-doodle puppy. I hope you can get a little inspiration from my blog and help me learn the best ways to be active in Chicago!

Join me as I safely guide you through the Lincoln Park sea of Trixies and bars that blast too much Dave Mathews Band. You won’t even need a fixed-gear bike or a Jetta. I’m a Chicagoan and I graduated high school in the LP. My parents still live here, and I’ve seen the neighborhood transform. When you say you live in “Lincoln Park” you’re greeted with an assortment of judgments. Hopefully we can tackle some of that right here. This blog is for Chicagoans, and even those newbies relocated from exotic locales like Cleveland and Detroit. I’m a mild-mannered reporter by day. But my nights are enshrouded in mystery.

Growing up in Southern Illinois, Carrie chose skyscrapers over cornfields to attend DePaul University (and to have access to deep dish pizza and Potbelly's sandwiches). In the 2 years of living in Lincoln Park, she has discovered a love for fro-yo, herbal teas, the DePaul Blue Demons, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Groupon, brunch, and scenic rides on the El (never a dull moment!). Armed with her Macbook Pro and Steve Maddens, she sometimes likes to pretend she is Carrie Bradshaw.

A childhood dream of living in Chicago finally came true 4 years ago and I've been tasting my way through the city ever since. Growing up in a big fat Greek family, I was surrounded by food and cooking so it's no surprise my passion for good eats has taken on a life of its own. My favorite cuisines are Thai, Indian, and of course Greek. I can't live without pasta and I have a thing for making my own pizza. Follow me through my neighborhood as I take you on edible journeys and point out the best spots to grab a bite!

Omaha native with feet planted firmly in Lincoln Park. Constantly on the hunt for the latest & greatest our second (to none) city has to offer, bumping into crazies & ridiculousness along the way (literally – I am a clutz). From the awe-inspiring to the ew-inducing on any given day or night out … it’s always something around here. Cardinal rules: leave before the lights come on & never become a regular!

Daylife in Lincoln Park

  • Age: 25
  • 'Hood: Lincoln Park
  • Fave spot: Is there coffee? Then I'm there.

Follow Me on Twitter

Born and raised in the Midwest, Kathleen's favorite part of Chicago is that it's found a way to mash together city life with the Midwestern habit of actually acknowledging other people on the street. A self-proclaimed coffee addict, much of her energy is spent seeking out magic beans in the coffee shops of Lincoln Park, but she also doles out affection to small dogs, college football, musicals, Bikram yoga, and unnecessary trips to Ikea.

  • Age: 24
  • 'Hood: Lincoln Park
  • Fave spot: Wrightwood Tap for cold beer, Molly's Cupcakes for hot cocoa

Natalie enjoys long walks on the beach, picnic baskets, and telenovelas—oops, wrong profile. She came to Chicago to follow her dreams and drink 312's on rooftops. Originally from Pittsburgh, Natalie moved to the best city in the world in 2009 with an iPhone, a journalism degree, and a Starbucks gift card. Now she is happily settled in Lincoln Park, and when she's not working her office job in the West Loop, she's writing, dancing, and gushing over other people's puppies.
