It's beyootiful: Ballet Chicago's "The Nutcracker" tiptoes to Lakeview this weekend. Image: balletchicago.org
If you love ballet and want to feel like a kid again – in the best possible way – take in “The Nutcracker” this weekend in Lakeview.
Ballet Chicago’s production of Tchaikovsky’s holiday classic continues tonight at 7 p.m., tomorrow at 2 and 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. All performances are at the Athenaeum Theatre (2936 N. Southport). There’s even a backstage event and a “Sweets Party” for the little ones.
Little girls in ruffly dresses, evil mice, tall trees and gravity-defying leaps included.
Personal note: I adore the ever-loving stuffing out of “The Nutcracker.” I once fulfilled my childhood dream by performing in the ballet. I was 22 at the time. It was still awesome.
