Need a break from the holiday hoopla? I know I do.

This weekend, trip down Belmont Avenue and take in “Spring Awakening” at Theater Wit (1229 W. Belmont). The Griffin Theatre Company’s production of Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater’s Broadway smash – the first homegrown in Chicago – continues tonight at 7:30 and runs every weekend through January 8.

Come on, it’s a rock musical about teen angst! Pretty people singing about their problems! Seriously, “Spring Awakening” is a solid show.
