I joined the LGBT boycott of Domino’s pizza last year after learning that founder and former CEO, Tom Monaghan, was a radically conservative social activist. Somethings irked me about the story though; there is a Domino’s right in Boystown(one of the world’s most concentrated gay ghettos) and the pizza itself is delicious and fast- not something I was keen to give up.
A couple years ago, as a 23 year old, I had a scare. A condom broke and I didn’t know the status of my partner. I turned to the Broadway Youth Center to make use of their free testing for youth 24 and younger. I breathed a sigh of relief when I learned I was…
Today is National Coming Out day. Coming out never stops and it isn’t only for gay people. Everyone has to decide on a daily basis how much to reveal to the world. My coming out story is a long one but I’ve attempted to keep it brief here. I ask that if you read further…
Since her rise to fame, Lady Gaga has been at the forefront of not only pop culture, but also the gay rights movement. At the MTV Video Music Awards, she called on her fans to reach out to Congress and ask for the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell. Now, she’s asked her fans to…

More on Emmer’s terrifying ideas on social issues and local alternatives to Target after the jump…

For the readers of this blog who have been living under a rock, Prop 8 (for short) made only marriage between opposite sex partners legal in the state of California. The full ruling can be downloaded here: http://bit.ly/9kqJDb. Though we still await…

My mom recently visited Chicago for the first time in two years. During her visit, she kept remarking on how friendly Boystown is. It’s been a long time since I was a new-comer to the neighborhood, and it made me wonder, what is it like for an outsider? I’ve been contemplating how best to write…
